The risk of contracting coronavirus at home can be reduced by remembering to ventilate the rooms, said Aleksandr Chepurnov, virologist, former head of the laboratory for especially dangerous infections at Russia’s Vector Center, the Vechernaya Moskva reports.

He said that ventilation had been considered the most effective way to disinfect closed spaces since ancient times.

He added that wet cleaning of the apartment also helps in the fight against COVID-19.

At the same time, clothes should be washed with powders for sportswear, which contain special disinfectant additives, he said.

NEWS.ru reported earlier that the novel coronavirus mutation would not affect the vaccine’s effectiveness, Director of Russia’s Gamaleya National Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Ginzburg said.

He said that there were many mutations in the S-protein, but none of them was fixed, except for the original one. Therefore, the study of a new mutation is purely scientific since, in practice, it doesn’t affect either the vaccine or the treatment methods, he noted.
