Russian allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok said that the loss of smell and taste distinguishes COVID from other infections, Lenta.ru reports.
He said that the named symptoms are characteristic only for people who carry the disease in a mild form.
Bolibok admitted that the loss of smell and taste could occur in other viruses, for example, in influenza, but for them, ‘this is less typical.’
The smell and taste disappear in a few days, already during the second week of the coronavirus manifestation, the doctor explained.
By that time, people with a severe form of the disease ‘are already in the hospital with pneumonia,’ Bolibok said.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that Russia’s Sputnik V developers offered AstraZeneca to combine vaccines.
