Vaccination and the development of an effective antiviral drug will help change the situation with COVID in the world for the better by the end of 2022, said President of the International Association of Specialists in the Field of Infections Irina Shestakova, RIA Novosti reports.

In the next two, or 2.5 years we see this situation changing in the world. I think, after all, by the end or somewhere in the middle of 2022, the situation will change everywhere in the world. I mean, of course, the coronavirus won’t be as relevant as it is now, the infectious disease specialist said.

Rospotrebnadzor (Russian consumer watchdog) explained what those who recovered from coronavirus in the spring of 2020 should do. The department noted that the preservation of immunity depends on many factors and may differ from person to person.

An 88-year-old man died hours after receiving the coronavirus vaccine in Israel, NEWS.ru reported earlier.

Mass vaccination of the population against coronavirus started in Israel on Dec. 20. In the first phase, health workers, medical students, geriatric staff, and government officials received the drug. Citizens over 60 years old and people from risk groups are vaccinated at the second stage.
