Putin: Russia offers CIS to join efforts in producing COVID-19 vaccine
Russia invites the CIS countries to work together to produce a vaccine against coronavirus, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State, held through video conferencing.
I want to confirm that we are ready for this joint work and are interested in it, Putin said.
The head of state stressed the importance of this process for the population of the CIS countries, mentioning the close contacts between the commonwealth states in the economic and humanitarian spheres.
The President also noted that Russia is ready to assist the CIS countries in vaccinating the population against COVID-19 with Russian drugs, RIA Novosti reported.
Of course, we are ready to assist all Commonwealth countries in vaccination of the population using Russian vaccines; I mean both Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona. Our other vaccines are to appear shortly, Putin said.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that Russia was testing the first samples of its Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus that were produced in India, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said, UrduPoint reports.
