Russia is testing the first samples of its Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus that were produced in India, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said, UrduPoint reports.

We have agreements with four large producers in India to make our vaccine. In fact, the first samples of the vaccine made in India have already been delivered to Russia, and we are now testing its quality. India will be making about 300 million doses of the vaccine or more for us next year, Dmitriev said on air of Rossiya 24 channel.

Russia has two domestic vaccines against coronavirus: Sputnik V by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology and EpiVacCorona by the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR.

Soon, the third vaccine developed by the Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations named after Chumakov should be registered.

NEWS.ru earlier reported that the UK is poised to become the first western country to approve a Covid-19 vaccine, with the independent regulator set to grant approval within days.
