Over the past day, doctors have cured 24,874 patients with COVID-19 in Russia. Overall, the country has reported 2,496,183 recoveries throughout the pandemic.


A day earlier, 20,480 citizens were cured of the coronavirus. Moreover, doctors identified 27,002 new infections, taking the nationwide tally to 3,105,037. According to the operational headquarters for controlling the spread of the disease, the deadly pathogen has claimed 55 827 lives, including 562 over the past day, according to the operational headquarters.

An expert from the World Health Organization (WHO), Maria van Kerkhove, said that antiviral measures should be observed even when a person has already recovered from COVID-19.

According to her, today, science cannot give an exact answer to the question of how long immunity lasts after an illness. In this regard, people who have recovered from coronavirus should continue to wear masks, wash their hands more often, and respect the social distance.

WHO declared an outbreak of a new COVID-19 infection that originated in China at the end of 2019 as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. The first cases were reported in Wuhan City (Hubei Province). The population of the metropolis is about 12 million people. According to preliminary data, the fish market was the source of COVID-19.
