Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Finance are to work to reduce fees for students of universities with online tuition. The corresponding instructions were given to the departments by the country's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as announced on Monday, December 21, at the Russian government's press service.
Earlier, the chairman of the All-Russian Student Union, Sergei Tsapko, said that the authorities could react to President Vladimir Putin's words that universities in which classes take place online should reduce student fees if possible. If developments proceed in a favorable course, educational institutions will receive additional funding to recalculate education costs.
According to Mishustin's instructions, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Finance will work on the respective issue.
The prime minister's order must be completed by February 15, 2021, TASS reports.
