At least 6 people were reported dead and 16 were hospitalized after a bus crash in India on Thursday.

The bus was headed to the capital city of Meghalaya state Shillong as the driver was speeding and losing control of the vehicle and it fell into the Ringdi river about 185 km West of the state capital at midnight, the police reported.

According to the police report, there were 22 people on the bus including a driver.

"The bodies have been fished out, and the injured were admitted in different nearby hospitals," The Indian rescue team said.

Fatal road accidents often occur in India due to overloading, bad condition of roads, and reckless driving.

On July 8, the bus accident happened some 20 kilometers (12 miles) near Agra, home of the Taj Mahal. Over 30 people were reported dead.

Two boats with 100 people aboard collided and sank on the Brahmaputra river in the Indian Assam state on September 8.

The footage from the scene of the accident shows one boat turned upside down and people were starting to dive in the water. Both boats had gone down as they completely sank.
