Indian man revives in mortuary after declared dead following bike crash

An Indian man who was pronounced dead in a motorcycle crash was discovered alive after his body had been in a mortuary’s freezer for several hours before relatives came, according to AFP.

The man’s family members who visited a morgue for identification said Srikesh Kumar, 45, was breathing when the body was shown.

“He’s not at all dead. How did this happen? Look, he wants to say something, he is breathing,” sister of the injured, Madhu Bala, said in a video.

The sister vowed to draft a complaint against doctors who examined Kumar, accusing the medical workers of negligence which directed the injured right to a freezer room where he could easily die.

Hospital Chief Dr. Shiv Singh commenting on the case said the body was examined multiple times for a heartbeat by a medical officer and each result indicated that the victim was dead as no heartbeat was detected. The hospital’s medical superintendent Rajendra Kumar called the case "nothing short of a miracle,” adding that the man was comatose after he was found alive.

“Thereafter, he was declared dead but, in the morning, a police team and his family found him alive. A probe has been ordered. Our priority is now to save his life,” hospital chief Singh added.
