Ruble strengthens against US dollar

At the opening of trading on the Moscow Exchange on Jan. 6, the US dollar rate dropped by 0.35 percent to 73.78 rubles, and the euro rate remained unchanged at 91 rubles.

According to the trading platform at 10:05 Moscow time, the US dollar dropped to 73.6025 rubles (-0.59 percent), the euro fell to 90.7050 rubles (-0.33 percent). Forty minutes after the start of trading, the US dollar rose to 73.6125 rubles, the euro - to 90.78 rubles.

The Moscow Exchange index again renewed its historical high, exceeding 3,380 points.

China may become the world leader in oil refining in 2021, pushing the US, which dominated the market since the mid-19th century, to second place, Bloomberg reported earlier.
