The Russian gas pipeline project ‘Nord Stream 2’ has no chance of being implemented, US media report referring to a senior source from the US government.
If the operator had been able to implement the project, it would have done this long ago, the DPA reports referring to a senior official from the White House.
Nord Stream 2 envisages two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year. They will stretch from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. Communications will also pass through Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. The United States actively opposes the project, promoting its liquefied natural gas in the European Union. Ukraine and several European countries are also against Nord Stream 2.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that Germany had found a way to bypass US sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
