Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has offered to create a new corridor between the Nagorno Karabakh region and Armenia.

Now everyone knows that the Lachin corridor passes through Lachin city. Thus, the city of Lachin remains in the middle of this corridor. During my conversations with the president of Russia, I said that Lachin city should also be returned to us. Therefore, we propose to build a new corridor, said the politician in his address to the nation.

Ilham Aliyev believes that instead of the Lachin corridor between Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh region, it is necessary to create a corridor connecting Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with the main territory of Azerbaijan. It can be built in less than three years.

The head of state noted that after determining the parameters of the new corridor, Lachin city will also be returned to Azerbaijan. He added that, in general, the ceasefire is respected, but there are attempts to disrupt the ceasefire.

On November 10, Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev, and Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the document, several regions come under Baku’s control; the parties are exchanging prisoners, and Russia deploys its peacekeepers along the line of contact and the Lachin corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia.

NEWS.ru reported earlier that Major General Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, said the peacekeepers and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross continue their activities in the region.
