The Azerbaijani authorities plan to build two international airports on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, said President Ilham Aliyev, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.

On my instructions, a site is being searched for constructing a modern international airport in the Lachin or Kalbajar districts. True, the relief there is complicated, and almost the entire territory is mountainous. It is difficult to find a suitable place there, but research is underway, Ilham Aliyev noted.

Another airport for international traffic will be built near Fuzuli city, he said.

I instructed that construction will begin soon, the president reminded.

Ilham Aliyev added that the construction of international airports would have a positive impact on the development of the region. This should give an impetus for the development of domestic and international tourism in Nagorno-Karabakh in the future, he said.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani leader announced his intention to transform the destroyed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and turn it into a ‘real paradise.’ On January 3, Aliyev signed a decree on creating a fund for the revival of Karabakh to finance measures to ‘restore the liberated territories.’

The armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which had smoldered for many years due to a territorial dispute, resumed September 27. Baku launched a counter-offensive. On the night of November 10, the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on ending the armed conflict. Under the terms of the document, the two armies remained in their places. Russia deployed its peacekeepers to the region to monitor compliance with the ceasefire.

NEWS.ru reported earlier that Ilham Aliyev ordered to create the Karabakh Revival Fund.
