Not only did the pop star’s father renounce the position but he also said that he will not ask for a payout.

Britney Spears's father Jamie Spears has filed papers demanding immediate termination of his conservatorship status over the pop singer.

The announcement comes days before the court hearing of November 12 when LA Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny was due to make the final decision concerning Jamie’s conservatorship which has lasted for 13 years.

"Jamie unconditionally loves and supports his daughter. Full stop. Jamie sees no reason why the сonservatorship should continue for any amount of time and asserts he has no interest in the сonservatorship continuing,” Jamie’s lawyers wrote in the court memorandum.

They added that Jamie will not try to reestablish the conservatorship but will keep acting in Britney’s interests and protecting her without the status.

According to the documents filed, Jamie wants the judge to finally end the conservatorship by annulling his petition presented in August saying that he would resign when the right time came.

Her father renounced taking legal action aiming at receiving financial compensation after lifting the conservatorship, though before he had asked for around $2 mln to pay his attorneys and managers.

“Jamie already petitioned this court to terminate the conservatorship and has offered to stipulate to its immediate termination without reservation or exception," the memo says stressing that the demand is unconditional.

According to Jamie’s lawyers, the only thing he wants is to ensure “a smooth transition”. He has also promised to stay clear and open concerning the transfer procedure and required similar public transparency from Britney’s party to eliminate speculation on the matter.

"Jamie has nothing to hide regarding his administration of Britney’s estate and will therefore hide nothing."

At the end of September, the LA Superior Court suspended Jamie’s conservatorship over the “Toxic” singer until presenting the final decision in November.

Jamie has been Britney’s conservator since 2008 after a series of breakdowns and mental health problems. He has initially been in charge of both the personal and financial aspects of his daughter’s life but resigned as her personal conservator in 2019.
