The American artist Michel Jackson stopped being the highest-paid celebrity for the first time in 8 years according to Forbes' annual rating. The British novelist Roald Dahl took the lead while Jackson dropped to third place.

Roald Dahl (1916-1990) is widely known for his children's novels Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. His books have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide. Roald Dahl died of cancer in 1990 aged 74. 

In September 2021 Dahl’s heirs sold the Roald Dahl Story company to the streaming broadcaster Netflix for $684 million. The new version of Matilda will be released in 2022 as a new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie starring Timothy Сhalamet will be released in 2023.

The postmortem income of the novelist reached up to $700 million for the past year.

Another American pop singer Prince (1958-2016) took second place in the rating with $108 million last year’s income. 

Michael Jackson who topped the Forbes list from 2013 to 2020 comes third with $75 million in revenue.

The children writer Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) - $35 million;
The singer Bing Crosby - $33 million;
The singer Elvis Presley - $30 million;
The golf player Arnold Palmer - $27 million;
The poet Gerry Goffin - $23 million;
The singer Luther Vandross - $21 million;
The reggae-musician Bob Marley - $16 million; 
The rapper Juice WRLD - $15 million 
The singer and founder of the Beatles John Lennon - $12 million.
