Russian airspace control spotted aerial targets over neutral waters, according to the National Defense Management Center.
It reports that the Russian Su-30 fighter jet intercepted the US and French reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
A Su-30 fighter jet from the air defense duty of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Southern Military District was raised to identify the aerial targets and prevent the potential violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti quotes the Center.
The Russian fighter's crew identified the aerial targets as the strategic reconnaissance aircraft RC-135, the US Air Force KS-135 refueling aircraft, and the French Air Force C.160G reconnaissance aircraft and escorted them over the Black Sea, the report says.
SU-30 operated in strict accordance with international rules and did not allow the violation of the Russian border. After the foreign military aircraft turned away, the Russian fighter returned to the home airfield.
