The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov will hold talks on the evolving situation at Ukraine’s border where Russia and Ukraine are growing their military presence.
The discussion will be held in Stockholm where currently a meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe takes place.
The meeting of the two diplomats comes just after Blinken attended a NATO summit in the Latvian capital of Riga where the same issue was discussed.
The conference focused heavily on the plan of action in case Russia indeed plans to invade Ukraine.
NATO’s head Jens Stoltenberg said that if such an incursion will take place Russia will pay a “high price” and new sanctions would be imposed.
As the west is attempting to foresee Russia’s actions, the Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the joint drills held by Ukraine and its western allies are a “red line” as they threaten Russia’s security.
