Regardless of who will be in the new US administration, Moscow will initiate a dialogue with Washington on countering the coronavirus, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.
Whoever becomes responsible for this direction in the administration, which will be in power in Washington after January 20, and whoever forms the US policy in the anti-epidemiological direction, we will at least invite them to contact on the subject of countering COVID-19, Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.
He also added that Moscow intends to correct the 'politically determined' misperception of Russian advances in the development of vaccines and 'other drugs' to treat coronavirus.
NEWS.ru reported earlier that Russia and the European Union maintain a constant exchange of data on the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus. Today this process has accelerated.
During his speech at the online briefing, Hans Kluge, Director of the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), recalled that the EU and Russia held an international forum last week involving representatives from Brussels, Moscow, and members of the European Commission. The issue of vaccines was raised, among other things, at the event.
