Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Armenia, Yerevan, a member of the Russian delegation told TASS.

Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu has also arrived in Yerevan as part of an interdepartmental delegation of the Russian Federation.

Russian representatives are expected to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The delegation also includes Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, and Head of the Russian Consumer Rights and Human Wellbeing Watchdog (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popova.

According to media reports, the Russian delegation will visit Baku as well. The parties are expected to discuss the maintenance of the Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire and the current situation in the region.

On the night of November 10, Pashinyan and the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, adopted a joint statement on ending the conflict in Karabakh. Under the terms of the agreement, the forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan remained in their positions, and the parties started exchanging prisoners of war and the bodies of those dead. Moreover, Russia deployed peacekeepers to Nagorno-Karabakh to monitor the ceasefire.

The statement sparked protests in Yerevan. Participants demand Pashinyan's resignation.

NEWS.ru reported earlier that the EU called for the resumption of talks on the Karabakh status.
