Iran Khodro Corporation (IKCO) which is an Iranian car manufacturer established back in 1962 announced its plans to start officially selling its cars in Russia again.

The representatives of the Iranian company visited the InterAuto and Automechanika exhibitions in Moscow and presented their Dena+, Runna+, and Tara car models.

The company decided to return to the Russian market following an analysis of the Russian supply and demand.

Similar claims were already made in 2011, 2014, and 2016.

The manufacturer’s cars have already been sold in Russia but the company decided to stop its activity in Russia briefly after the sales dropped by 40% back in 2008.

Iran Khodro is not planning to establish its own distribution centers, instead, it will cooperate with other distributors.

However no official agreements have been achieved till the moment, the company’s spokesman told Dvizhok.

In Russia, Iran Khodro will compete with the domestic car manufacturer Lada.

Currently, the manufacturer has production sites in Syria, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Senegal, and Venezuela.

The plans of Iran Khodro to return to the Russian market came as the company registered a rise of 37.6% in sales in comparison to the same period last year.

In 2009 the car company ranked 16th among car manufacturers worldwide according to IKCO’s vice-president Mir-Javad Soleimani.
