Two died, 17 people were injured, including two kids, after a gas explosion on Wednesday in a residential building in the city of Noginsk in Russia, 30 miles east of Moscow.
A man and a woman among those who were killed in a blast, The Investigative Committee of Russia reported.
"During the removal of debris, the bodies of two victims have been found, some 17 people have been injured, while six people, including two children, have been rushed to hospitals with injuries of varying severity," says the statement.
According to local officials, six people were taken to the hospital. Over 170 people and more than 40 rescue vehicles involved in the search and rescue operation.
The blast hit the nine-story building in early Wednesday morning in an apartment, located on the third floor. A wall collapsed on the second, third, and fourth floors.
The Russian Investigative Committee launched a criminal case investigation on the provision of the service that does not meet security requirements.
