At least 27 more diplomats will leave the US with their families by the 30th of January according to Russia’s ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov.

"Our diplomats are being expelled...A large group of my comrades, 27 people with families, will leave us on January 30... We are facing a serious staff shortage," he said in a statement.

Since 2016 over 100 Russian diplomats were sent out from the US and the tendency is still continuing.

According to data from the 29th of October around 200 Russian diplomats were in the US, however the number keeps dwindling.

US President Biden’s administration has recently said that since 2017 the staff of the US mission in Russia has decreased from 1,200 to just over a hundred.

The diplomatic war between the two countries has also led to the US embassy in Moscow almost suspending its activity.

Currently Russian citizens who want to receive a visa are unable to get in Russia due to the low number of staff.

Instead they should visit nearby countries and go to US embassies there.

Earlier it was reported that a body of a Russian diplomat has been found near the German embassy in Berlin.
