Jon “Bones” Jones is set to return to martial arts after a period of inactivity as the former UFC’s light-heavyweight champion via Twitter announced his next fight was scheduled on December 9.

The following contest will be held within grappling rules against Bellator heavyweight and WWE star Jake Hager (aka Jack Swagger) at a Fury Professional Grappling event in New Jersey.

An official for Fury Professional Grappling confirmed to MMA Fighting that Jones will fight. They preferred to stay anonymous as there still hasn't been an official announcement.

This will not be his first appearance at similar grappling events. Jones’ previous participation at grappling rivalries is dated to 2016 when he showed up at a North American Grappling Association event.

The alleged opponent Jake Hager on Twitter corrected Jones who called him Jack Swagger, the name he competed in wrestling, and alluded that no contract has been signed yet and that he is open to talking on terms.

In general, Jones hasn’t fought since UFC 247 dated to February 8, 2020 when he won over Dominic Reyes after completing all five rounds via close decision.

Later Jones vacated his title in the light-heavyweight division showing interest for the heavyweight one where Francis Ngannou currently reigns.

In September Jones was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with battery domestic violence and injuring. The fighter denied all the charges and was later released on bail.
