The Brazilian star is not sure that he will have enough mental strength to continue with football.
One of the best football players in the world Neymar has revealed that the 2022 FIFA World Cup can be the last tournament in his career. The Paris Saint-Germain star made the announcement during an interview given to DAZN's exclusive documentary Neymar & The Line of Kings.
"I don't know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football any more."
Neymar expects the 2022 World Cup will be his last
“I think it's my last World Cup. I don’t know whether I have the strength of mind to deal with football anymore,” Neymar said.
He has also promised that he will do everything possible to win the trophy with his country to realize his main dream since childhood.
It has not been specified whether the Brazilian mentioned his career in the National team or as a player in general.
The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar in November and December. The competition will become the first World Cup in history to take place in the Middle East and in the Arab World overall.
Qatar’s tournament will be the third World Cup for the 29-year-old football player. Neymar was one of Brazil’s main idols at the 2014 World Cup held on home soil until the inglorious 7-1 defeat from Germany in the semi-finals. After this match at the legendary Maracana stadium, the German National team beat Argentina in the final and became world champions, while Brazil lost 0-3 to the Netherlands in the match for bronze medals.
In 2018 Neymar scored only twice for Brazil which was beaten by Belgium in the quarter-finals. Belgium later lost to the future champions – France – but defeated England in the match for third place.
