The Russian team has won more than $18 mln while the overall prize money reached $40 mln.

Team Spirit was victorious at The International 10 (TI) tournament, the main Dota 2 annual competition with a prize fund of $40 mln. In a 5-game series Team Spirit defeated PSG.LGD who got some $5.2 mln.

Russia-based Team Spirit won the first two games but PSG.LGD did not give up and defeated their rivals in the next two. Team Spirit finally triumphed at the last fifth map and received the status of the best team of the year.

Team Spirit became the International’s sensation as it defeated the two-time current champions OG in the lower bracket, as well as such titans as Invictus gaming from China, Team Secret led by the Dota legend Clement "Puppey" Ivanov, and compatriots from Virtus.Pro. The Russian organization made it to the top through open qualifiers and was hardly expected to reach the finals.

PSG.LGD, which was born following a partnership between PSG Esports (FC Paris Saint-Germain’s esports department) and Chinese esports organization LGD Gaming, was the most dominating team of the tournament which lost only one map at the group stage and one in the upper bracket before the finals.

The International 10 which marks the anniversary of the  game’s release in 2011 was held in Romania’s Arena Națională without spectators. 18 teams from all over the world clashed to raise the Aegis of Champions trophy.

The 2021 International’s prize fund was combined with that of the TI 2020 which was canceled due to the global pandemic. It now holds the record of the largest overall prize pool in Esports.

More than 1.6 mln spectators watched the dramatic series on twitch.tv streaming platform only. The number of observers is far from being accurate since the Chinese cyber gaming community watched the games on interior streaming services.
