Tesla’s executive chief Elon Musk personally responded to the Korean driver, who reported the problem, by tweeting “Checking.”
Tesla's app serves as a key for users to unlock a car and start an engine.
Approximately 500 drivers signalized the error during the connection to a vehicle by 4:40 ET on Friday, according to the outage tracker source DownDetector. The number of reports had been reduced to 60 after five hours since the first “error” commentary was received.
Musk said in a tweet to take measures to avoid further outages.
