A plane was caught on fire in a field after crashing outside of a privately owned airport in Houston, Texas, 21 people aboard could escape the fiery incident without any major injuries.


The McDonnell Douglas MD-87 jet was ready to depart from Houston Executive Airport to Boston for the Houston Astros' game against the Red Sox in the American League Championship Series when it crashed into a fence, the Federal Aviation Administration and local authorities said on Tuesday.

All 18 passengers and three crew members managed to survive in the wreck. Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The plane's owner J. Alan Kent was onboard but received no wounds. The younger passenger was 10 years old. The jet has already been buried in flames when the firefighters arrived at the scene.

The investigation has been launched by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board after the incident.
