A 16-year-old teen who is unnamed due to her age who was abducted by 61-year-old James Brick was saved by showing a distress signal which became known due to TikTok.


The gesture is a fist enclosed across the thumb placed in front of the palm and usually means that the person is secretly attempting to inform you that he or she is a victim of violence.

The motor driver saw the sign and immediately called the police informing them about a possible abducted girl in a Toyota Camry car.

The criminal Brick has been identified to have a sexual image of a minor.

Following the report to the police the girl was saved while Brick was charged with unlawful imprisonment and material portraying sexual images involving a minor.

The girl went missing on Tuesday and according to latest information she has initially gone to Brick willfully however later regretted her decision. 

The TikTok sign became popular after people started using it during lockdown to indicate that they are subjected to violence in their homes.
