Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates officially dissolved their marriage after a judge had completed the documents regarding couples’ divorce, according to court reports.
The couple, who announced the divorce in May, have grown up three adult children together. In a court filing in May, French Gates said that her name would not be changed.
The divorce procedure has resulted in a “separation contract”, which both Gates agreed with. The agreement includes the rules of dividing their properties, debts and court fees. A child-support plan has not been established as Gates’ children are 18 or above.
The couple married on January 1, 1994, in Hawaii, and the guest list included such persons as Willie Nelson and Alice Cooper.
Melinda and Bill Gates consider to remain at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as co-chairs. The nonprofit foundation aims at battling against poverty, diseases and inequity. If the pair face difficulties between each other during the working hours, French Gates may step down in two years, CEO of the Gates Foundation Mark Suzman said.
