The Sarasota County Sheriff believes that Gabby Petito’s fiancée on the run took his own life before getting caught in a nationwide manhunt.

Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt Hoffman told law enforcement executives that he supposed Brian Laundrie had committed suicide.

Though the official cause of Laundrie's death has not been discovered yet, Hoffman revealed to his colleagues that Gabby Petito’s fiancée had possibly gone in the nature reserve to kill himself.

Laundrie's remains were found by law enforcement agents in the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County on October 20. FBI has confirmed that the remains belonged to Petito’s fiancée accused of her death but could not determine the exact cause of death.

Laundrie had been called a person of interest in the murder of his 22-year-old fiancée whose remains were found in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest on September 19. According to a coroner, she was strangled to death

The discovery raised suspicions over Laundrie’s role in the homicide after his parents had reported him missing on September 17.

The couple set off on a journey across the US in July but on September 1 Brian returned to his parents alone in Petito's van and refused to talk about her.  Ten days later Petito’s family reported her disappearance after they could not contact her for a week.
