Two police officers who are a husband and a wife were fired after an investigation concluded that they stood by the Capitol as rioters stormed the building.

The two fired officers are Alexander Everett and Caitlin Everett.

The two suspended officers are among six others from the same department who are under investigation for their actions during the Capitol riot.

The couple denied all allegations and they said they were too far to witness the rioters entering the capitol.

To date over 20 officers were charged for similar allegations, while over 535 rioters were arrested overall.

Police Chief Adrian Diaz said that such behavior from police officers must not be tolerated.

Other officers like Aquilino Gonell said that they were scared to be crushed by the protestors.
