LAX Airport's Terminal 5 was evacuated after a "suspicious vehicle" prompted a security concern on Friday, airport authorities announced in the official account on Twitter.

The airport officials confirmed that traffic was diverted "due to police activity."

"Traffic in the Central Terminal Area is being diverted due to police activity. Please allow extra time when coming to the airport and follow direction from traffic officers," says the statement on a social platform.

Local media reported a bomb threat, however, no confirmation has yet been received. The LAPD officers arrived at the scene.

Travelers were asked to allow extra time when coming to the airport. Later the all-clear was given as the terminal resumed normal operations.

"All clear given at LAX after suspicious vehicle prompts security concern. Traffic diversions have concluded. Please be patient as LAX resumes normal operations," LAX tweeted.
