A 15-year-old student committed an armed attack on Michigan’s Oxford School shooting three to death and leaving eight other people injured.
The crime resulted in the death of a 16-year-old male student, 14-year-old and 17-year-old females. Three among others injured were in life-changing conditions by the evening of Tuesday. A teacher at this school has also been injured in the shoulder but was later discharged from a medical facility.
Police said the office had received around 100 emergency calls on Tuesday at around 12:51 local time within minutes after the attack commenced.
An assailant who was reportedly a student of the school carried a 9mm SIG Sauer handgun which had been purchased by his father just days before the school shooting. The culprit also had two additional magazines for the gun and several extra rounds, according to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
The official said that when the shooter was captured he still had the gun loaded.
“When they took it from him, he had a loaded firearm and he was coming down the hall. That, I believe, interrupted what potentially could have been seven more victims,” Bouchard said.
The preliminary version is that the shooter had no accomplices during the crime.
The culprit who made that day horrific for numerous people refused to answer questions as his parents were hiring an attorney for him.
As soon as the school attendees had heard the gunshots, they locked themselves inside classrooms to avoid tragedy.
Footage showed how locked in the classroom students heard a knock on the door and a stranger behind it voiced “open the door.. bro”. The students refused to open it and instead decided to flee the room out of the window located at the bottom level of the building. They were met by an officer who said they were safe.
Bouchard also said that he received information that the killer had posted on social pages about an attack before the crime happened.
“We’re also hearing that there were rumors that somebody had heard or said something or knew something in advance. None of that came to us. If we find out there was information, that’s exactly the kind of thing we need to get and get looped into.”
The school currently has its doors shut while the investigation is going on.
The world is facing an increased rate of shooting in schools. Earlier in September, an 18-year-old Russian student
