The consequences of the Astroworld festival tragedy added the 10th victim to the list of those who perished in a massive stampede.
The deceased was a 9-year-old boy named Ezra Blount who was induced into a coma later in hospital following the chaos that happened during Travis Scott’s performance, according to family’s lawyers. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner tweeted a confirmation of the boys’ death.
I am saddened to learn of Ezraâs death this evening. Our city tonight prays for his mom, dad, grandparents, other family members and classmates at this time. They will need all of our support in the months and years to come. May God give them strength. RIP Ezra. st #AstroWorldpic.twitter.com/Ankq7FMa3l
Blount was the youngest to die among other victims of the Astroworld event during which the crowd pushed towards the scene forcibly packing people to each other so that they couldn’t breathe.
Describing what had happened there, the father of Ezra, Treston Blount said “I began to be crushed until I couldn’t breathe. And I woke up and my son was gone,” he wrote on GoFundMe, the website on which the man created a fundraiser after the deadly incident.
The family members of the deceased don't even know the reason for their relative’s death but they are sure “he was trampled.”
The family had filed a lawsuit against headliner Travis Scott and the event organizers even before the news of the boy’s death came.
