San Franciscans are prohibited from smoking tobacco and e-cigarettes in residential areas, but they can be replaced with marijuana.

The ban on tobacco was introduced to prevent the harm that secondhand smoke causes to the body. Local authorities initially wanted to ban smoking marijuana as well but faced protests from the townspeople.

The fact is that marijuana is legalized in California, and San Francisco is in this state. However, its use is prohibited in public places. Therefore, the home is the only place where locals can legally smoke marijuana, Politics Today reported with reference to US media.

The situation with narcotic drugs in Russia remains difficult and is latent, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, NEWS.ru reported earlier.
