Six teenagers were injured in a shooting on Monday near a high school in Aurora, Colorado, CBS News reported.

The shooting occurred at Nome Park in central Aurora, about 10 miles East of downtown Denver, and the shooter or shooters fled. The witnesses reportedly heard approximately 30-50 shots.

According to the local police, the victims were between 14 and 18 years old. One of the victims underwent emergency surgery as another victim with minor injuries went to the hospital without ambulance help. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

The police said that several people were involved in the shooting, but details have not yet been disclosed. In addition, the law enforcement believe that there were "multiple" suspects who are all at large in the wake of the shooting.

"My understanding is it was a drive-by shooting, as well as there may have been people on foot," Chief Vanessa Wilson of the Aurora Police Department said.
