Mark Zuckerberg could have paid $20 million for the Meta trademark to change the name of the Facebook company, TMZ reported.

Earlier, The CEO of Facebook said that the company’s new name is Meta as it attempts to illustrate the company’s plans to grow from a mostly social media company to something bigger. The company’s stock exchange ticker will also change as now it will be MVRS.

The media reported that in August the brand name Meta was filled by the small PC company.

Two founders of Meta PC Joe Darger and Zack Shutt said that the company was founded back in 2020 but they managed to fill the application for the brand just in summer.

In that case, Facebook couldn't use the brand name without permission from the original Meta. Darger and Shutt claimed that Zuckerberg had to pay $20 million to get that permission as Meta PC will spend the money for the rebranding.

It’s been reported that Meta PC has seen a 5,000% increase in followers across their social media channels amid the Facebook new name process.
