The Prime Minister of Netherlands said that those who are protesting for the third day in a row against COVID-19 measures are nothing but “idiots.”

The protests have already turned violent with security officers opening fire and at least 100 people arrested.

"This was pure violence disguised as protest," Prime Minister Mark Rutte said in a statement.

"There is a lot of unrest in society because we have been dealing with the misery of corona for so long. But I will never accept idiots using pure violence just because they are unhappy," he added.

The protesters are not only gathering to express their discontent but also setting fires and throwing rocks.

The windshield of an ambulance which was trying to get a person to a hospital was even hit with a rock.

Strict lockdown measures were reimposed following a healthcare crisis as hospitals were not able to handle all those infected with COVID-19.

Officials also said that even sticker measures could be imposed if the situation keeps getting worse.

Earlier, it was reported that similiar protests eruptedin Austria, Ireland, and Croatia.
