Following a drink reception at the French presidential palace a female soldier was raped and currently an investigation is undergoing.

The incident happened in July and the reception was attended by the French President Emmanuel Macron himself.

The man who is potentially responsible for the crime has already been arrested, however until now no charges were presented as he is still being questioned.

According to latest information the victim knew her abuser as they both worked at a security staff office at the presidential palace.

An official from the palace said that as soon as the situation became known an investigation was launched and support was offered to the victim.

The French President has vowed to tackle the growing sexual abuse problem in France and among the measures was the passing of a new law which sets the age of consent at 15.
