Sydney and other major Australian cities are filled with protestors who fill the streets marching against Covid-19 restrictions as Australia records a new high in infections.
The participants of the protest are carrying banners and signs that call for “the truth” and “freedom”.
A woman was seen carrying a banner that said: “This is not about a virus, it's about total government control of the people. This stops now!”
The Sydney anti-lockdown protest is a superspreader event in the making. If the sheer number of people wasn't enough, everyone is also screaming at the top of their lungs (without masks) and potentially spreading droplets all over the damn place pic.twitter.com/WI2R5Ql4kE
Sydney has been under lockdown for four weeks with residents being able to leave their homes only if they have a reasonable excuse.
“We live in a democracy and normally I am certainly one who supports people’s rights to protest … but at the present time we’ve got cases going through the roof and we have people thinking that’s OK to get out there and possibly be close to each other at a demonstration,” Brad Hazzard, the state health minister, said in a statement.
Americans, when you watch Australian cops bashing the crap out of Aussies for exercising their right to protest, I just want to remind you that Australians are completely disarmed.
