Representatives of Azerbaijan and Turkey signed five documents on expanding cooperation in various fields following the first day of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Baku, TASS reports.


The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Jeyhun Bayramov and Mevlut Cavusoglu, amended the intergovernmental agreement on abolishing the visa regime between the countries. The document permits travel using internal passports.

According to the protocol signed with my brother Jeyhun Bayramov, soon it will be possible to travel between Turkey and Azerbaijan only using an identity card, Cavusoglu tweeted.

The Turkish company BMC Otomativ, the Baku Transport Agency, and the State Agency for Highways of Azerbaijan have agreed on cooperation. Protocols of understanding were signed. The Investment Office under the President of Turkey and the Azerbaijan Small and Medium Business Development Agency have signed a memorandum of understanding. The two countries also signed documents on strategic partnership in the field of media.

NEWS.ru earlier reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Baku is a historic event, press secretary of the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Omer Celik said.
