Prince Harry announced in a panel discussion for WIRED that he warned the CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey about possible US Capitol insurrection one day before the attack on January 6.

On Tuesday Harry, 37, attended online a WIRED forum which was devoted to misinformation and called "The Internet Lie Machine."

Harry claimed that he had been in contact with Dorsey and told him about the dangerous content that was spreading in the social media.

"Jack and I were emailing each other prior to January 6. I warned him that his platform was allowing a coup to be staged. That email was sent the day before, and then it happened. And I haven't heard from him since," Harry said.

In addition, he discussed the way misinformation influences personal life as Harry shared details of how he has been impacted by lies on the internet. He also criticized the British media for being biased and mistrustful.

“The British press conflate profit with purpose and news with entertainment, and don’t report the news, they create it. They have successfully turned fact-based news into opinion-based gossip with devastating consequences for the country,” Harry told the participants of the forum.

The Capitol attack occurred on 6 January as a crowd of angry protesters didn’t support the US Senate and House of Representatives certification of Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election.

It was the first assault on the US Capitol since the War of 1812. The brutal and unexpected attack made then-vice president Mike Pence and other officials hastily flee the building for their safety.

A total of five people died and over 100 policemen were wounded as a result of the Capitol coup.
