Nine people have died in a plane crash in the Dominican Republic near the country’s capital Santo Domingo on Wednesday after the aircraft requested an emergency landing, Helidosa Aviation Group reported.

The plane that had to land in Miami crashed just minutes after the takeoff from Isabela International Airport near Las Americas International Airport.

The aircraft of Gulfstream GIVSP type carried nine people - two crew members and seven passengers, according to the statement issued on Twitter. Six passengers were American nationals, according to Fox News.

Among those who died was Puerto Rican music producer Jose A. Hernandez (aka Flow La Movie) and his wife Debbie Von Marie Jimenez Garcia with their 4-year-old son Jayden Hernandez.

Helidosa Aviation Group said it is actively working to get more data regarding the incident and is also collaborating with the rescuers.

The reason for the incident remains unknown as well as what caused the flight crew to request the emergency landing.

Flow La Movie is mainly known for his hit “Te Bote” which topped the list of Hot Latin Songs in 2018 and had been there for 14 weeks.
