US embassy in Baghdad activates C-RAM, sounds warning sirens

The American embassy in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad has sounded alarms and activated its C-RAM system according to Iraqi media.

"The US embassy in Baghdad will test the CRAM system and sound the sirens at exactly one o'clock in the afternoon for a period of two hours. This is intended for the purpose of testing and training," a source told Alsumaria News.

The C-RAM system at the Iraqi US embassy is used to counter missile attacks which are often being launched by various militant groups.

One of the latest attacks took place nearly a month ago when Two Katyusha rockets fell near the fortified Green Zone in Baghdad on, where the US Embassy is located.
