US President Joe Biden said that the country would help Taiwan if China conducted military aggression towards its neighbor, according to BBC.

“Yes, we have a commitment to do that,” Biden replied when the President of the US was asked during Townhall, whether the US would defend Taiwan.

However, later the White House told some media that the US will not alter its policy despite Biden’s remarks.

Taiwan in turn has commented on what the US President said clarifying that its policy regarding China wouldn’t also be changed.

China has no recognition in Taiwan to be a sovereign state, calling it a “breakaway province” also openly saying that one day Taiwan might be even taken by force if necessary. Taiwan completely disagrees with this sort of statement.

At the beginning of October, Taiwan reported numerous Chinese fighter aircraft entering Taiwanese air defense zones. The day-by-day appearances of Chinese mostly J-16 warplanes and H-6 bombers above Taiwan raised concerns about safety and stability in the region. Around 150 fighter jets had flights over Taiwanese border. It lasted during the weekend at the beginning of October. However, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen stated on October 10, that the country will not give in to Chinese pressure, adding that the Chinese idea of reunification doesn’t guarantee democracy, freedom, and sovereignty.
